Privacy Policy

The short version
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, ads, or trackers. Better Than You Heard ("BTYH", "we") collects as little as possible, never sells personal information, and uses the few things you send (like an email) only for the reason you sent them.
1. Who runs this
Better Than You Heard publishes the YouTube channel @betterthanyouheard, this website, and a newsletter. Questions about privacy: privacy@betterthanyouheard.com.
2. This website
This site is plain pages with no scripts. It does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, social media widgets, embedded videos, or fonts or files loaded from other companies.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver and protect it, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, under Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. We may see total traffic figures that Cloudflare reports, but we do not receive or keep records about individual visitors.
3. Email you send us
Messages to hello@, corrections@, and privacy@betterthanyouheard.com pass through Cloudflare Email Routing to a private inbox. We use them only to reply, to check and publish corrections, or to handle business inquiries, and keep them only as long as that takes. When we publish a correction you reported, we do not name you unless you ask to be credited.
4. The newsletter
If you subscribe to the newsletter, it is delivered by beehiiv, which stores your email address and subscription details and may measure whether emails are opened or links are clicked. We use your address only to send the newsletter. Every issue has an unsubscribe link. See beehiiv's Privacy Policy. We never sell or rent subscriber lists.
5. Our YouTube channel and YouTube API Services
Our videos are hosted on YouTube. When you watch, comment, or subscribe there, YouTube handles your information under the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Our internal publishing software uses YouTube API Services. It is used only by the channel owner, to upload and manage our own videos and to read our own channel's reports. Through the API it accesses:
- details of our own videos, such as titles, descriptions, and upload status, and
- aggregated statistics for our own channel, such as views, watch time, and subscriber totals.
It does not access, collect, or store personal information about viewers. API data is kept on a private computer, used only to publish videos and review how they perform, and is not sold or shared with anyone.
Anyone who has allowed an app to access their Google account can revoke that access at any time on the Google security settings page: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.
6. Advertising and third-party content
This website shows no ads. Videos on our YouTube channel may show ads that Google serves under its own policies; we do not choose who sees them and receive only aggregated reports. Any sponsorship is disclosed in the video and at the top of its description.
7. Cookies
This website stores nothing on your device. YouTube and Google set their own cookies when you use their sites, as described in the Google Privacy Policy.
8. Children
Our content is not directed to children under 13, and the channel is set as not made for kids. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Your choices
You can ask what email we hold from you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to privacy@betterthanyouheard.com. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
